|Explore the rolling countryside of the "Terre di Siena" along medieval tracks and roadways that La Romita has discovered for you! We organize quiet guided excursions using new, smooth-riding Polaris 330 Quad Bikes (All-Terrain Vehicles) along itineraries of extraordinary beauty. We climb hills and follow ancient country tracks in close touch with nature.
Our guided tours allow you to explore southern Tuscany's unique landscape in perfect safety. We offer you comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in your choice of hotel rooms or rustic apartments, with dinner at the noted restaurant of La Romita, amongst whose appreciative clients has been the film director Federico Fellini.
THE QUAD EXPERIENCE
We have created three different itineraries, each unique in terms of sightseeing and the character of the landscape. The surface of the tracks is a mix of black top and gravel or beaten earth.
Precise departure times will be decided the evening before, based on local weather forecasts. Each tour is led by a knowledgeable guide who will instruct each Quad bike driver in the basics of safe driving before setting out. His decision is final and no driver should overtake the guide. The tours last 3-4 hours, but can be extended by arrangement.
Spend an extra day in Montisi! Combine flying over the Tuscan countryside and then churning it up on a Quad bike (or vice-versa). Take a balloon ride with our partner Ballooning in Tuscany, the premier hot air balloon company in Tuscany, now celebrating its 15th year in Italy!
The route covers the villages of San Giovanni d'Asso, Chiusure, and Buonconvento, with stops at the magical Bosco della Ragnaia, a woodland park created by the American artist Sheppard Craige, and at the abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. There are ridgeways to be traversed, with chasms and wild woods full of flowers.
The Val d'Orcia is a wide valley closed in by hills and mountains, with the only outlet for the river Orcia through a steep gorge at Bagno Vignoni. The route includes stops at Pienza and Monticchiello, and takes you over the wide-open white roads of the valley bottom.
Woods and valleys north of Montisi, through Trequanda with its 12th century castle, to Etruscan Asciano, by way of the spectacular travertine quarries of Le Serre di Rapolano.
Each itinerary includes a substantial brunch which will give you a chance to sample typical local foods produced on local organic farms.
The cost of the tour includes guide, fuel, helmets, brunch, insurance, and recovery. For further details, send us a request form.
Above all, remember that the tour has been conceived and is run by REAL TUSCANS - Carlo Alberto, Riccardo, Giovanna, and Catia look forward to meeting you.
